Preserve and save, O Theotokos, thy servants from every danger.  After God, do all of us for refuge flee unto thee; a firm rampart art thou and our protection.  O Spotless One, who inexpressibly in the last days, by a word brought forth the Word, do thou make request of Him, as one who hath motherly boldness.

Thou wast transfigured upon Mount Tabor, showing the exchange mortal men will make with Thy glory at Thy second and fearful coming, O Saviour.  Elijah and Moses talked with Thee, and Thou hast called the three disciples to be with Thee.  As they gazed upon Thy glory, O Master, they were struck with wonder at Thy blinding brightness.  Do Thou who then hast shone upon them with Thy light, give light now to our souls.

Food for Thought (7/27)

You have an open wound, a sore of sin.  If you loiter on the way, it will utterly destroy you.  Your Physician is experienced.  Show Him your sore, lament with tears at His door, arouse His compassion that He might heal you.
