Feast of Presentation of the Lord Services

We will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple with Great Vespers on Sunday February 1 at 6PM, and on Monday February 2, Matins at 8:45AM and Liturgy at 10AM.

Free Lunch Program

We are due to serve at the Free Lunch Program on Tuesday February 3 from 11:30AM-1:30PM. As always, we need 3-4 volunteers to help serve food and clean-up. Please let Fr. Ignatius know if you can help this month.

January 31 Fundraising Event

Thank you to all who helped in so many ways to make our "Evening in the East" fundraising event a success. From choir participation to food preparation to the providing of silent auction items, to staffing the event, setting up, cleaning up afterward and countless other things, thank you. We had over 200 people present at the event, and we were able to raise over $5,000 for our Building Fund.

News on Fundraising

Last week, we were granted an extension on our financing deadline. This means we now have until February 20 to raise money for this Phase 1 of our Capital Campaign. For the latest up-to-date totals on our fundraising, go to the Capital Campaign page. We continue to proceed with our fundraising and to date, we have over $163,000 dedicated to the purchasing and renovation of our building. We pray that we will be in a position to complete the purchase by February 20. Our goal is $275,000.

January 25 Special Voters' Meeting Rescheduled

Due to an extension that was granted by the sellers on our financing contingency, we now have a few more weeks to continue to raise money. Because of this, our Voters' Meeting is rescheduled for Sunday February 22.

Bon-Ton Stores Coupon Book Fundraiser

Our church is working with the Bon-Ton stores by participating in their Community Day fundraiser. Between now and February 28, coupon books will be available at church. Books cost $5 and the church keeps the entire amount. Buy one for yourself and take 5-10 to sell to family, friends and co-workers. The coupon book pays for itself and then some, as it contains a $10 off coupon and many other discounts, which can be used at any Bon-Ton company store nationwide. Bon-Ton stores include Younkers Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder Beerman and Herberger's. Our local Coral Ridge Mall has a Younkers store. All proceeds go to our building Fund.

House Blessing Schedule

It is time to schedule a house blessing with Fr. Ignatius sometime before the beginning of Lent (March 1). Fr. Ignatius would like to visit as many of you in your homes as possible during this time. A sign-up sheet is posted at church. Please suggest a day and time and Fr. Ignatius will confirm if that time will work.

Daily Akathist to Continue Through February 27

The sign-up for members to pledge to pray an Akathist at home each day during our Capital Campaign will continue until February 27, our scheduled date for closing on the property, now that our deadline has been extended. Whether you sign-up to pray an Akathist or not, will you pray that God would reveal to us His plans for our location?

Epistle Reading

Opportunities always exist for people to sign-up to read the Sunday Epistle in either English or a foreign language. If you have any questions or want to know more, please speak with Todd Wiblin or Fr. Ignatius.

Do You Have a Prayer Request?

Please give it to Fr. Ignatius and he will distribute it by email to all those on the Prayer Chain.

Holy Bread and Coffee Hour

For Sunday February 8, the Muste family will provide the holy bread. We need a volunteer to provide food for coffee hour. Thank you in advance. Anybody who would like to host the coffee hour or bake the holy bread can sign up at church to do so.

Food For Thought

The Mother who has never known wedlock has brought into the temple Him who shone forth before the ages from the Father, and who in the latter times was born from a virgin womb. He who gave the Law upon Mount Sinai, makes Himself obedient to the ordinance of the Law; and she has brought Him to the priest and righteous Elder, whose appointed lot it was to see Christ the Lord. Simeon, receiving Him in his arms, greatly rejoiced, crying aloud: " This is God co-eternal with the Father, and the Deliverer of our souls."
